Traffic Congestion and Public Suffering in Dhaka: DMP Expresses Regret

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has announced that several organizations and groups simultaneously began protests in various parts of the capital to press for different demands. This has led to the disruption of traffic on several crucial roads, causing widespread public suffering and severe traffic congestion across parts of the city.

This information was highlighted in a press release signed by DMP DC Muhammad Talebur Rahman on Sunday (November 2nd).

Details of the Protests

The release stated that several organizations have taken positions in front of the National Press Club to demand:

• MPO inclusion (Monthly Pay Order) for Ibtedayi Madrasa teachers (under the United Alliance of Ibtedayi Madrasa Teachers).

• Recognition and MPO inclusion for schools for people with disabilities.

• MPO inclusion for all recognized non-MPO educational institutions.

In addition, protests are ongoing with demonstrators blocking roads to demand:

• Non-cadre recruitment for disabled graduates seeking employment.

• Non-cadre recruitment for candidates who passed the 43rd BCS (Bangladesh Civil Service) examination.

The DMP noted that these blockades are preventing vehicles from moving at normal speeds.

DMP’s Effort and Apology

The press release concluded by stating that despite hundreds of obstacles and adversities, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police is striving to keep traffic moving normally. Nevertheless, the DMP sincerely regrets the public suffering caused by the increase in traffic congestion due to unforeseen circumstances.
